BioSonics' exclusive sales agency in China, Zealquest, exhibited at the The Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Asian Fisheries Acoustics Society (AFAS) in Guangzhou. Since 2007, AFAS has successfully organized ten annual meetings to promote the dissemination and development of fisheries acoustics in Asia. The meeting typically includes over 100 scientists from countries including the USA, Japan, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Norway, Indonesia and Thailand. The eleventh annual AFAS conference was held November 13-14, 2017.

BioSonics President, Tim Acker, traveled to the AFAS event in Guangzhou to help debut the new DT-X Extreme echosounder in China. BioSonics DT-X Extreme is an innovative, versatile echosounder system that works as a portable system for mobile surveys, or as an autonomous data logger for long-term, fixed station monitoring applications. Built tough for extended outdoor deployments, the DT-X Extreme features all metal connectors and an IP67 rating. With more than 50 DT-X echosounders already in use in China, the DT-X Extreme is expected to become the new standard for fisheries acoustics in the Chinese market.
